Frequently Asked Questions

What is Chakradance Kids™?
Chakradance Kids™ is a creative wellbeing and social–emotional learning program for children aged 3–12 years. The program is mainly delivered as a structured 9-week series, with each week focusing on a different theme such as emotional awareness, confidence, kindness, intuition, self-expression, imagination, and self-understanding. The sessions are designed to gently support children’s emotional growth in an engaging and age-appropriate way. We also run mini-retreats in the school holidays and once off themed workshops for schools, preschools and private groups.
What happens in a Chakradance Kids™ class?
Each class follows a nurturing and creative flow. Children listen to a specially written story that carries meaningful life themes, then explore the story through guided movement and music, allowing them to physically and emotionally embody what they’ve heard. The session also includes a creative art activity where children can reflect on and express their own feelings and experiences.

At the beginning and end of each class, children are introduced to simple wellbeing practices such as breath awareness, mindfulness, and relaxation techniques. These tools support emotional regulation, calmness, and self-awareness, and can be used outside of class as well.

Do I need to bring anything?
Children should bring a water bottle. Depending on the venue, you may also be asked to bring a cushion and/or a yoga mat. Any additional requirements will be communicated before the term begins.
How long are the classes?
Classes usually run for between 45 minutes and one hour, depending on the age group and setting.
Do parents stay for the classes?
No — Chakradance Kids™ classes are for children only. This creates a safe and supportive space where children often feel more comfortable expressing themselves freely and authentically.
Who supervises the children?
All Chakradance Kids™ facilitators hold current Working With Children Checks and are trained in First Aid and CPR. For larger groups, an additional adult assistant may be present, and they will also meet all required child-safety standards.
Can we attend casually?
Chakradance Kids™ is offered as a sequential program, with each session building on the one before it. For this reason, enrolments are for the full term or series only, rather than casual attendance.
What if my child misses a class?
As the program runs as a term-long series, refunds are not available for missed sessions. However, where possible, families may be offered a make-up class, online access, or credit for a future session. Weekly parent notes are still provided so you and your child can stay connected to what was covered.
How will this benefit my child and family?

Chakradance Kids™ programs are designed to support children navigating the emotional and social challenges of modern childhood. Through movement, storytelling, creativity, and mindfulness, children are introduced to practical tools that help them understand their emotions, build resilience, and develop empathy for themselves and others.

The program supports children to integrate what they learn into everyday life, encouraging emotional awareness, confidence, and healthy self-expression. Sessions are playful and imaginative while also supporting whole-child development across physical, cognitive, emotional, social, and energetic levels.

Skills commonly developed include:

  • Creativity and imagination
  • Emotional awareness
  • Listening and communication skills
  • Problem-solving
  • Self-reflection and meta-cognition
How is Chakradance Kids™ different from other programs?
Chakradance Kids™ draws on an integrative framework that includes the chakra system, Jungian psychology, and contemporary child development theories. While these foundations are not taught explicitly to children, they inform the themes, structure, and progression of each session.

Storytelling is central to the program and plays a powerful role in learning. Combined with movement, music, and art-making, this multi-modal approach engages children on multiple levels, supporting deeper understanding and more lasting learning experiences.

What happens after the series ends?
Children are encouraged to repeat the series once or twice if possible. Revisiting the same themes allows children to deepen their understanding and apply the wellbeing tools with greater confidence as they mature. If a child completes the series a few times when they are young, they could also repeat it again when they are older and hence gain an even deeper learning experience.
What is your refund policy?
Program fees are non-refundable unless a cancellation request is made at least 14 days prior to the course start date. Once the term has begun, fees are not refundable if a child withdraws part-way through the program, and any outstanding balances will remain payable.
As enrolments secure a place for the full 9-week series, refunds are not offered for missed classes. Where appropriate, credits or make-up sessions may be offered. Make-up classes are guaranteed only if a session is cancelled by Mali Barrie. Requests related to unexpected illness or significant life events will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
